Although scarring is the only side effect of hair transplantation, it can be minimized with the skilled hands of an experienced surgeon and the use of up-to-date techniques and medical tools. Rarely, infections, crust or pus drainage around the operation area, loss of sensation on the operation area, swelling, scalp pain, itching, folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles), bleeding can be seen.
You should avoid your scalp from direct sunshine for at least 4 months after the procedure. You should fully cover your head with a hat to protect the hair transplant area until the incisions are fully healed. You should also avoid using any sprays or lotions during this period. We recommend you to wear a hat for several more months even after the incisions are healed since exposure to the sun may cause excess visible scars in the transplant area.
